November Competition

Cynthia McBride, McBride Gallery owner, is the November judge.

“Cynthia McBride is the owner of McBride Gallery in Annapolis, MD celebrating 40 years, and Benfield Gallery, in nearby Severna Park, celebrating 30 years. Growing up on a farm with a mother who was a fine art painter and illustrator developed her love and appreciation for artists and art. After a short stint in the corporate world, she decided to open her own business, The Original Gallery, in Hull, MA in 1972. Following family moves she opened and sold two additional galleries before opening the Maryland galleries.

Cynthia’s goal is not solely to show and sell art, but to showcase the artists in shows lifting their reputation with themes inspiring both the artist and the viewer. Some favorites: “Breaking the Rules”, “Impressionism, Tonalism and Perceptualism”, The Art of Storytelling: A Narrative Show”, and “Painter’s Paintings”.

Active as a volunteer in community efforts, Cynthia has served as President of the Greater Annapolis Chamber of Commerce and the Annapolis Rotary Club, also serving on the boards of Anne Arundel Medical Center and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. She founded and manages the Annual Annapolis Art Walk and the Annapolis Gallery Association.

McBride Gallery hosts 6 – 7 exhibitions a year including national juried shows for Oil Painters of America (OPA), Women Artists of the West (WOAW) and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS).”
