February Competition

“A fifth generation Wyomingite, Sue Simpson Gallagher returned to her hometown of Cody after a hiatus of fifteen years to open an art gallery with her husband in 1994. Since then, Simpson Gallagher Gallery has featured some of the finest representational art and artists in America with a focus on plein air landscape painting.

Sue’s interest in art began at a young age. College summers were spent working at an art gallery and an auction house. Following graduation from Colorado College in 1985 with a B.A. in Art History, she worked at Trailside Galleries and served as the first Curator of Art at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming. Sue later attended Columbia University for a Masters Degree in Art History. She remained in New York City for three years, researching and writing a television program on the Hermitage Museum in Russia.

Simpson Gallagher is a member and past chairwoman of the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale committee and is a former member of the Advisory Board of the University of Wyoming Art Museum and the Wyoming Arts Council. She currently serves as a trustee for the National Museum of Wildlife Art and as an Advisory Board member of the Whitney Museum of Western Art at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.”
