Catherine Saks

April/May Competition

Catherine Saks began her 38-year career in the art world when she and her husband, Mikkel, opened their first art gallery, in 1977 in downtown Denver. Specializing in representational and Western art, the gallery was the starting point of many prominent collections that continue to evolve today. Decades later, Catherine still finds great satisfaction in bringing together outstanding works of art and clients who appreciate the value of beauty in their lives. As a Colorado native, Catherine’s interests have always included the mountains. She loves hiking with artists, who will invariably see and point out things that the casual hiker would never notice. She has hosted and judged many plein air competitions over the years. Catherine is also a passionate animal lover. Hosting many events in the gallery to benefit animals such as the Bow Wow Benefit. An exhibition of over 100 paintings and sculpture all of animals to benefit a local no kill shelter. Catherine co-founded the Furry Friends Food Drive to benefit animals whose owners do not have the means to feed their furry friends. Catherine is a member of the Denver Art Dealers Association and the Cherry Creek Arts District and head curator of the American Art Invitational. She is enthusiastic about the growing arts scene in Denver, even as the online world now enables the gallery to connect with artists and clients across the world.
