The categories are open to studio and plein air paintings (unless specified). With 19 categories, there are a variety of subject matter categories to choose from. The Salon Art Prize (formerly the PleinAir Salon) is for traditional 2d paintings and drawings. Photography, digital and AI paintings, sculpture, etc. are not eligible.

Artist Over 65

Paintings that feature sunrises, sunsets or clouds as the majority of the subject matter.

Drawings in pencil, graphite, charcoal, pastel, etc.

figure & portrait

Paintings that feature figures and portraits, including figures in the landscape/cityscape.

Paintings that feature gardens, fields, flowers, etc.

Paintings that feature the landscape or outdoor environment, without figures or animals.
